The International Examiner is co-hosting a workshop with various Seattle media outlets on June 4th from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in order to promote diversity and equal access to the media. Other organizations hosting the event include: Crosscut, South Seattle Emerald, KCTS9, The Seattle Globalist, Seattle Weekly, and more.
From The Seattle Globalist website:
“With more than one in five of Seattle residents being born outside the U.S., our city is diversifying rapidly. Immigrants and people of color have shaped Seattle into what it is today, and should certainly shape our media outlets and the coverage we do. We believe that diverse media is better, and that diverse perspectives and voices are what power good journalism. At the same time, access to the press and journalism skills are very limited for the everyday Seattleite. So we’re coming to you.”
