Mayor Durkan is seeking community members to apply for an open position on the International Special Review District Board (ISRD).

The ISRD reviews alterations to building exteriors, signs, new construction, changes of use, and street improvements, taking these recommendations to the Seattle Department of Neighborhoods. The goals of the board are to maintain character, cultural heritage, and social diversity in the area, thereby enhancing the economic climate.

Elected position four has become vacant and will be filled through a mayoral appointment. The appointee would complete the remainder of the term, ending on November 30, 2019. The board consists of five elected members and two members who are appointed by the mayor and confirmed by Seattle City Council.

Individuals living in the International District, belong to a community organization or demonstrate active interest in the community, and have an interest in historic preservation are encouraged to apply.

Applicants must be Seattle residents and serve without compensation. Those interested should send a letter of interest and resume to [email protected] by Thursday, May 31.
