typhoon vigil

A community vigil is planned for Tuesday, November 19 from 5:30 p.m. at Beacon United Methodist Church to remember those impacted by Typhoon Haiyan (Yolanda) in the Philippines.

Pin@y sa Seattle GABRIELA USA will be collecting donations through the National Alliance for Filipino Concerns (NAFCON) and United Methodist Community on Relief (UMCOR).

Pin@y sa Seattle GABRIELA USA is a collective of Pin@ys working to build a community in the Seattle area invested in educating, defending, and advocating for the human rights of Filipinas globally.

The group will also be collecting at the vigil any of the following medical supplies to send to relief efforts in the most affected areas in the Philippines:

* First Aid Kits
* Cold/cough/fever medication
* Wound care: agua oxenada, gauze pads, iodine
* Vitamin C
* Oral rehydration salts for adults and children (ducolite, pedialite, or hydrite)
* Gastroenteritis medication (Imodium, Loperamide hydrochloride, Maxolon Metoclopramide, Norimode)
