On Monday, September 18 at 12:30 PM, the King County Council is hosting a special reception to honor late community leader Ruth Woo. The reception will be held on the 12th floor of the King County Courthouse.

The Council will also honor Woo’s legacy through an Emerging Leaders Program named after her.

At a young age, the late Mrs. Woo witnessed the impacts of policymaking when she and her family were unjustly incarcerated during World War II. This life event motivated her to pursue a life of public service to increase diversity in government institutions to ensure they reflect the communities they serve.
