Kiku Hayashi was recognized with a lifetime achievement award by the Metropolitan Democratic Club on September 18, 2016. 

The Metropolitan Democratic Club (MDC) on September 18 awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award to Kiku Hayashi for her lifelong commitment to social justice at its recent Diamond Jubilee Celebration. Hayashi is the immediate past president of the MDC and is a precinct committee officer for the Democratic Party in the 37th Legislative District. She also is a board member of the Food Bank at St. Mary’s, King County League of Women Voters, Seattle Chapter Japanese American Citizens League, and the Squire Park Community Council.
