On Jan. 3 2012, seven Bellevue City Council members conducted the mayoral election. Conrad Lee, a former deputy mayor became the first Asian American elected mayor of the City of Bellevue. In Bellevue, city council members elect the mayor.
“I’m grateful to the people of Bellevue and I am honored to be entrusted by my fellow council members to be mayor,” Mayor Lee said. “Bellevue is a wonderful place with wonderful people. It’s one of the most vibrant and diverse cities in the state and I am proud to represent and lead it.
