The following is a message from Helping Link—Một Dấu Nối:

Helping Link—Một Dấu Nối’s Board of Directors and Executive Director, Minh-Duc Nguyen, are pleased to announce its 21st Anniversary Gala on September 28 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Mercer Island Community Center on Mercer Island. This year’s gala will celebrate the theme of “Growing As One,” and the nonprofit’s commitment to unity.

Guests will enjoy a lively, cultural evening, starting with reception and dinner featuring Vietnamese cuisine. The gala will also showcase cultural performances, in addition to an award ceremony honoring organizations Lucky 7 Foundation, Macrina Bakery, and Seattle Children’s for their ongoing dedication to the growth and investment of their employees and local ethnic communities. Other activities, such as a silent auction, raise the paddle, and dessert dash, feature donations up for bid from popular restaurants, bakeries, and companies.

Last year, Helping Link–Một Dấu Nối provided over 4,800 hours of tutorial service to children, 1,300 hours of ESL instruction, and 1,800 hours of computer classes to Vietnamese-American families. These services are invaluable in helping thousands of Vietnamese-American youths, elders, and families thrive and find their voice in American society.

“Many immigrant families are facing the challenge of keeping up with technology,” Nguyen said. “We’re helping them bridge that gap with the expansion of tech classes. We want to ensure our clients have the access they need in order to stay relevant in their jobs, families, or communities.”

In particular, Helping Link’s iPad class has proven popular with clients, and Nguyen hopes to offer more iPad classes this fall to accommodate high demand.

Helping Link—Một Dấu Nối hopes to raise funds to sustain current education and support programs, and expand class offerings to the Vietnamese-American community. Tickets for the 21st Anniversary Gala are now available at $75 for general admission and $100 for VIP.
