On Saturday, May 18th, hundreds gathered at the Seattle Marriott Waterfront Hotel to celebrate the 40th anniversary of International Community Health Services (ICHS), an organization that started as a Chinatown-International District neighborhood storefront clinic in 1973, and 40 years later, has bloomed into a host of community health clinics providing comprehensive health services to 21,400 a year. ICHS honored physician and clinic volunteer Dr. Joseph Saitta and Asian Counseling and Referral Service with their annual Bamboo Awards for Health. ICHS expects to provide thousands more with health services through two new health clinics in Bellevue and Shoreline, slated for completion this year and late 2014, respectively, and a mobile dental clinic serving 10 schools. The gala raised more than $203,000. More photos and a video at www.ichs.com/bloom/.
