Action plans were reached and announced at the Human Trafficking Engagement Event on Jan. 11 in Olympia, sponsored by Seattle Against Slavery. Advocates say human trafficking is the fastest growing crime in the world today. Discussion focused on furthering training for prosecutors and in all levels of law enforcement. Legislators agreed to the following action items: Legislators agreed to sign a joint letter to police associations urging them to support enhanced anti-trafficking training and protocol development; and Representative O’Brien agreed to request an executive order from the Governor to permit the immediate posting of Trafficking Victim Hotline notices at critical locations.
