The Seattle Chapter of Pilipino American Unity for Progress, Inc. (UniPro Seattle) is hosting the sixth multinational forum called Summit in Seattle on Saturday, October 29, 2016 for young professionals, students, and youth. Pilipino American Unity for Progress, Inc. (UniPro) is a national non-profit organization founded in New York City, NY in 2009 with a mission to engage Filipino Americans through collaboration, advocacy and education. It seeks to transform Filipino students and young professionals into community leaders through its various programs, which incorporate professional development, history, and policy through the lens of the Filipino experience.
Although a national organization, this will be the first time Summit is to take place in Seattle, WA. The goal for this year’s Summit is to create a sustainable inter-generational pipeline of leadership for the Filipino American community by developing a unified and engaged Filipino America through a series of dialogues and workshops. While Summit will focus on topics surrounding Filipino identity, history, and communities, one of the first workshop sessions dive into discussions regarding what it means to work with other communities of color and varying cultures. In the afternoon, a panel will be held, in which panelists will share their experiences and definitions on what it means to work towards reaching racial unity in society.
One of the delegates will have the opportunity to win a free round trip ticket to the Philippines during a raffle at Summit.
