After seven years of lobbying for the new Indian consulate in Seattle by the Washington State and India Trade Relation Action Committee (WASITRAC), India will soon open its sixth consulate in Seattle to cater to the needs of Indian-Americans living in the northwest.

After his meeting with President Obama, Prime Minister Modi addressed the joint session of the US Congress on June 8th. Seattle Congressman Jim McDermott along with other selected members greeted Prime Minister Modi into the House for his address to the joint session.

Apart from its embassy in Washington, there are Indian Consulates in New York, San Francisco, Chicago, Houston and Atlanta.
