Mai Nguyen has been named recipient of the 2016 Individual Dream Award to commend her dedication to early education for children and families in the Seattle area. Nguyen has given more than ten years of support and service on the DLEC Board of Directors from 2002-2009. Denise Louie Education Center (DLEC) will present the award at its annual dinner and auction on Saturday, October 1, 2016 at the Museum of Flight. Each year, the auction brings in approximately 300 of the organization’s closest supporters in a fundraising effort to cover critical early learning programs and family support services.

Nguyen has given more than ten years of support and service on the DLEC Board of Directors from 2002-2009. Through her leadership as President, DLEC landed a contract with Making Connections, an Annie E. Casey Foundation initiative aimed to improve the lives of disadvantaged children and their families. She spearheaded DLEC’s Beacon Hill capital campaign, recruited new board members and supporters from her network of philanthropic friends and colleagues, and continually looked for ways to increase visibility and funding for vital early learning services.
