Boys on the Inside is a feature documentary film focused on a group of formerly incarcerated individuals speaking about prison culture and explores stories about being gay inside prison while also addressing the complexities of institutionalization, addiction, gender expression and living as an ex-felon in the United States. Boys on the Inside was filmed in rural, urban and prison contexts throughout Washington State.

On August 6 through September 19, a crowd funding campaign will include series of events that bring communities together to talk about topics related to the film Boys on the Inside, including prison advocacy, queerness in women’s prisons and how the arts intersect with activism. Upcoming events include a panel discussion on “Women’s Prisons, Art & Queerness” at Seattle University on Aug. 27, as well as an Artist Trust “Meet the Artist” event at Salon Refu (Olympia, Washington) on September 10.
