Amerigroup Washington recently presented a $5,000 contribution to the Washington Low Income Housing Alliance (Housing Alliance) in support of their Emerging Advocates Program, which provides leadership development and advocacy support for individuals with direct experience of housing instability or homelessness. The check presentation took place at the first joint Housing Alliance and Housing Alliance Action Fund Member Meeting at the Impact Hub, where nearly 100 organizational members, supporters, board members, and advocates gathered. At the event, the Housing Alliance also presented their 2016 Advocacy Awards to a diverse group of community advocates, lawmakers, and community organizations to highlight their achievements in advocating for safe, healthy, and affordable homes during this year’s legislative session.
