A partial demolition of the Louisa Hotel on 7th Avenue and King Street took place early this morning, April 1. The demo section consisted of the west wall in Maynard Alley, which included the Wah Mee Club, Liem’s pet shop, the floors above, and the basement below. A blessing took place before the demolition began.

The three-story building, located in the 600 block of South King Street, was damaged by a fire on December 24, 2013.

The Woo family, who owns the property, and city departments have said that they are working to preserve as much of the existing building as possible. Plans to demolish the west wall on Maynard Alley, which was most severely damaged by the fire, were set last year. Renovations are currently taking place in remaining portions of the building.
