Our annual Fall Arts Guide is always a fun issue to put together. Or, maybe it’s because our Arts Editor does most of the work.

The IE has produced the Fall Arts Guide for about thirty years, a remarkable accomplishment owed to our Arts Editor, Alan Lau, and his dedication to the local API arts community. We’re glad our readers have exposure to our unique arts contributions — all in one tidy edition.

In this issue, you’ll be a part of a 3-day novel writing contest, learn to use a calligraphy brush, feel inspired by a traditional Korean musician, enjoy playful performances about serious topics, revel in the guilty pleasure of Margaret Cho’s raunchy humor, and appreciate the art of photography that captures a Japanese American community frozen in time.

So take a moment to free your mind, amplify your artistic side and support one of these shows, readings, or exhibits.

Besides, like our Arts Editor, the artists have already done most of the work.
