More than 330 Komen benefactors joining in the promise to end breast cancer forever raised more than $720,000 at the annual Komen Puget Sound Affiliate Grace Notes gala held at the Fairmont Olympic Hotel in Seattle on March 13. The gala, presented by MulvannyG2 Architecture, was an extraordinary evening for the cure. Event Chairs Lisa Dawson and Albert Shen, along with Executive Director Cheryl Shaw and President of the Board Flip Morse, recognized Elisabeth James and Jacob Green as the 2010 Honorees. As a creative example of grassroots fundraising, Jacob and Elisabeth team up each year to grill a feast extraordinaire, raising funds to provide breast cancer screening and treatment support. Jerry and Charlene Lee, 2005 Honorees, joined in recognition by stating, “these unsung heroes know the importance of raising money to put an end to breast cancer.” Over the past four years, they have helped raise more than $330,000. Mistress of Ceremonies Jean Enersen kicked off an evening of fun and fundraising featuring exclusive auction items and great entertainment. A trip to the Super Bowl 2011 offered by Tod Leiweke, CEO Vulcan Sports and Entertainment, followed by Seahawk Ring of Honor member Jacob Green and Tom Walker’s famous BBQ party brought enthusiastic bidding generating $82,000! Seventy-five percent of the net funds raised for the Puget Sound Affiliate remain in Western Washington for lifesaving breast cancer screening, education, treatment and support. The remaining net energize science in the discovery of the cure(s).
