Three individuals from the local APA community will be honored on Saturday, May 22 at the Verizon Wireless APA Heritage Bash Community Roast Awards.

The 2nd annual Verizon Wireless APA Heritage Bash puts a spin on community awards with some laughs and recognition for our up-and-coming APA community leaders: Ryan Catabay, My Tam Nguyen and Joyce Pisnanont.

Free Spirit Award -“Most likely to get stranded on an island” Ryan Catabay is the owner of Rytek Grafx, a multi-service and innovative design company. He also serves as the creative director for the International Examiner.

My Tam Nguyen

Most Inspirational Award – “Most likely to squeeze every dollar out of your wallet for a good cause”
My Tam Nguyen is a mentor to youth, and a graduate from the Asian Pacific Islander Community Leadership Foundation and Leadership Tomorrow.

Joyce Pisnanont

Most Likely to Succeed Award – “The overachiever” Joyce Pisnanont is Manager of the IDEA Space, a project of the Seattle
Chinatown International District Preservation and Development Authority.

The winners were part of a group of 9 individuals that were chosen to be put up for public vote by a nomination committee made up of long-time community members from across generation, industry and gender.

The Verizon Wireless APA Heritage Bash Community Roast Awards is a VIP, invite-only event starting at 5:30pm. The public is invited to celebrate with the group starting at 8:30pm when up-and-coming indie band, Tim Be Told, will be performing.

Come mingle with the Roast Award winners, Tim Be Told band members and the rest of our local APA influencers on May 22.
