First of all, thank you for reading the International Examiner. Thank you for any time you’ve picked up our paper at one of over 300 distribution sites around Seattle. Thank you for going online and reading our website that is updated nearly every day with new stories about Asian and Pacific Islander news, arts, culture and more.

We’ve been producing this coverage going on 47 years and it is our utmost hope that we can continue to do so. We’ve recently added a new section with all COVID-19 coverage from news articles to weekly updates to essays.

The IE has always been faced with challenges, and we’ve learned how to be lean. We have been able to stay in operation because of the support of our community, advertising and donations. But nothing to date is as challenging as COVID-19. We made the tough decision to not print in April because we want to do all that we can to contribute to flattening the curve and following social/physical distancing rules. We hope to be back in print soon.

Nearly all of our ad revenue comes from events. As these events are being/have been canceled, we have lost a substantial amount of ad revenue so far, and we know this will continue in the future. This is hurting us deeply and we’re unsure of how much longer we can sustain operations.

We ask for your support to help us get through this. For nearly five decades, this paper has told our community’s stories: those of leaders, businesses, community based organizations, artists, activism, change makers, unsung heroes. We do not know what the future holds for us right now and are taking it day by day. Please know we are doing everything we can to keep bringing you these stories, but we need your support.

Here’s how:

  • Make a tax deductible donation online (https://iexaminer.org/support/) or mail a check to International Examiner, 409 Maynard Ave. S., #203, Seattle WA, 98104.
  • Like/Follow us on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter and share our posts
  • Subscribe to our paper
  • Tell your friends to subscribe to our e-newsletter (contact [email protected])
  • Purchase advertising (contact: [email protected])
  • Amazon Smile: Find yourself ordering a lot of goods online? Toilet paper, maybe? Order through Amazon Smile and select International Examiner as the recipient of your donation.
Every single dollar counts. Long live Chinatown-International District, and thank you so much for being a reader and for your support.
Sincerely,Jill Hyesun Wasberg, Editor in Chief

and the whole IE team
