A Human Rights Day action to free Nestora Salgado, a Seattle-area resident and imprisoned indigenous leader, happens on Tuesday, December 10 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Mexican Consulate, 2132 3rd Ave. in Seattle.

Salgado was arrested after leading a successful indigenous police force in her hometown of Olinalá, Guerrero. The community police defended residents against a wave of murder, intimidation, and rape by organized crime and corrupt officials, according to Libertad para Nestora/Freedom for Nestora—Seattle Committee.
