Harbor City, a beloved dim sum restaurant on King Street, closed at the end of February after 37 years. In a goodbye note posted on the front door, the owners said the choice was not easy, writing: “We want to sincerely thank you for being a part of our journey.”
According to the Seattle Times, owner De Han Ma and his family, who became owners in 2008, will close the restaurant because they were looking for a 5-year lease on the restaurant but could not agree on terms with the property owner.
According to Vanishing Seattle, Harbor City was founded in 1988 by the Ngo family, who sold it to the Ma brothers, who subsequently added dim sum to the menu.
Harbor City’s sibling restaurant in Tacoma will remain open at 4816 Pacific Ave.
