With April 30, 2025 marking 50 years since the end of the war in Vietnam, Friends of Little Sài Gòn (FLS) is putting out a call for community members to submit art work that could be featured in an exhibition highlighting the history of Vietnamese refugees in King County over the past 50 years.
“The Vietnamese community here has experienced hardships and pain, but also tremendous growth and healing,” the announcement reads. “How do we showcase the resiliency of the Vietnamese spirit? How do we honor our history and foster the next generations?”
FLS is seeking art that can be featured in one of three themes in the exhibit: “Our Past, Our Present, and Our Future.”
Individual artists, cultural organizations, and community members with historical artifacts are invited to apply.
The exhibit will be shown at Yuan Ru Art Center in Bellevue, on view from April 26, 2025 to May 17, 2025. “All 2D, 3D, and multimedia forms of art and artifacts are welcome, from historical photos and stories to paintings, sculptures, collages, and film,” according to the announcement. Those selected will receive a stipend of $150 dollars.
