Join the Washington State Budget and Policy Center for Budget Matters 2025 on Wednesday, November 12 at Northwest African American Museum, a policy summit focused on “Keeping a steadfast vision for a just economic future.” Our new executive director, Eli Taylor Goss, will be joined by Budget and Policy Center team members and other speakers in conversations exploring how we can work together to protect communities and crucial state funding amid the current state and federal program cuts.
During the first part of the program, Budget and Policy Center policy experts will give a series of short policy snapshot presentations, highlighting the ways state lawmakers and budget writers must respond to the current political moment. You’ll hear from Senior Policy Analyst Kaitie Dong on immigration justice; Senior Policy Analyst Evan Walker on criminal legal system policy; Senior Policy Analyst Tracy Yeung on direct cash; and Associate Director of Campaigns Emily Vyhnanek on the fallout from the federal megabill.
The day will culminate with Executive Director Eli Taylor Goss and Senior Policy Analyst Mia Shigemura facilitating a keynote panel, “Progressive Revenue as the Solution for Prosperity and Safety,” with featured speakers: Rep. Shaun Scott, Sen. Noel Frame, Fatema Boxwala with Tech4Taxes, and Marco Guzman with the Institute on Taxation and Economic Policy.
