An entire block of Belltown dining establishments have independently decided to participate in a unique program with General Biodiesel, Washington state’s only firm to refine and process used cooking oil into EPA-Registered road-use biodiesel. General Biodiesel is a Seattle-based renewable energy firm producing high-quality biodiesel fuel from sustainable sources. The individual decisions of these seven businesses has collectively resulted in creating Seattle’s first 100 percent GreenPartner Biodiesel Alley, encompassing 1st and 2nd Avenues, between Battery and Bell Streets. “Our biodiesel is available for exclusive use in the Puget Sound region, helping to reduce harmful emissions, CO2, and other greenhouse gasses as compared to petroleum diesel,” said Yale Wong, CEO/Founder of General Biodiesel. Ethan Stowell, Chef/Owner of Tavolàta restaurant said, “We chose the GreenPartner program on its own merits, but discovered even greater efficiencies and neighborhood benefits by working together. With one shared collection container, and one truck to service it, we all get a much cleaner alley and less traffic in it.”
