The Asian Counseling and Referral Service (ACRS) Food Bank, located at 919 S. King St., was burglarized between the evening of Dec. 21 and the morning of Dec. 27, and also during the evening of Dec. 28, 2006.

Thieves cut into a fence and broke into a window. They emptied two freezer chests full of frozen organic chicken and salmon, 30 to 40 50-pound bags of rice, cases of ramen, toiletries, a computer and printer. They also broke into a storage shed and took reams of paper bags and other paper goods. Loss was estimated at $6,000-$7,000.

Nearly 5,000 low-income households rely on the ACRS Food Bank. Most of the clients are elderly and young children, ACRS officials said. Since the break-ins, they said inquiries and contributions have been received to replace the stolen goods. Financial contributions can me made to the ACRS Food Bank, 720 Eighth Ave. S. Suite 200, Seattle, WA 98104, or www.acrs.org.
