Bob Hasegawa
Running for re-election: State Representative, 11th District, Position 2
Bob Hasegawa prioritizes family wage jobs, access to capital and protecting small businesses, basic and higher education, civil rights and social justice and equity of access to all society has to offer.
With a background as a longtime labor and social justice activist, Hasegawa has actively worked to build bridges between social justice organizations and has served on many, including: Executive Board of the King County Labor Council, national Asian Pacific American Labor Alliance, AFL-CIO (APALA) Executive Board as well as on the APALA Seattle Chapter Executive Board, Jobs with Justice Workers’ Rights Board, Center for Social Justice, Japanese American Citizens League. Hasegawa is running for re-election and has completed his third term in the Washington State House of Representatives.
Sharon Tomiko-Santos
Runinng for re-election: Washington House of Representatives for the 37th district
Sharon Tomiko Santos is running for reelection as Representative for the 37th District. Since being elected into the House of Representatives in 1998, Santos has served on many community boards such as: The Washington State Invest Board, United Way of King County – Seattle Community Board, YMCA Youth and Government Advisory Board, Japanese American National Museum Advisory Board, Japanese American Citizens League – Seattle Chapter Board, and Council for Pacific Asian Theology. High on her list of priorities are education, community economic development, health care and affordable housing.
Cindy Ryu
Running for: State House of Representatives, 32nd Legislative District, Position 1.
After working as a business owner and Mayor of Shoreline from 2008-2009, Cindy Ryu is running for 32nd Legislative District State Representative Position 1. Ryu hopes to build bridges and ensure we bring fiscal responsibility and accountability back to state government. Her priorities include: investing in and improving education for children, creating jobs and economic opportunity and protecting our neighborhoods and environment. During her time as Shoreline City Councilmember and Mayor, Ryu built bridges among diverse constituents and led the adoption of the Comprehensive Housing Strategy.
Paull Shin
Running for re-election: to the Washington State Senate District 21
In 1993 to 1994, Paull Shin became the first Korean American to be elected to the Washington State Legislature when he served in the House of Representatives. In 1999, he was elected to the Washington State Senate and is currently serving as Vice President Pro Tempore. Shin has been involved in numerous civic and community organizations including the Governor’s Commission on Asian American Affairs as an Asian American Political Action Civic Affairs board member and Northwest Region of Korean Americans president. Since joining the Legislature, Shin has been a strong advocate on education and trade.
Doris Fujioka McConnell
Running for: State House of Representatives, 32nd Legislative District, Position 1.
For over 20 years, Doris Fujioka McConnell has been a dedicated Shoreline resident that is passionate about improving parks, open spaces and community assets. She supports many of the city council’s goals like completing the Aurora project. McConnel was elected as a councilmember in the Shoreline City Council in 2007. Her work and experience reflect her extensive, hands-on involvement in her community and PTAs. She is a member of the Suburban Cities Seashore Transportation Forum and a board member of the Asian Pacific American Municipal Officials.
