A special screening of the documentary “Abacus: Small Enough to Jail”, hosted by  Chinese American Citizen Alliance – Seattle LodgeNAAAP-SeattleOCA-Greater SeattleSeattle Asian American Film Festival, will be shown at Wing Luke Museum on Sunday, May 20 from 11:45 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.

The film is directed by veteran documentary filmmaker Steve James. It tells the story of the Chinese immigrant Sung family, owners of Abacus Federal Savings of Chinatown, New York.  Accused of mortgage fraud, the indictment and trial forces the Sung family to defend themselves – and their bank’s legacy in the Chinatown community – over the course of a five-year legal battle.

The event is sponsored by Swedish. There will be a discussion with Chanterelle Sung and other local panelists at 1:45 p.m. after the screening.
