On December 13, as part of On The Boards’ Open Studio, poet Kaia Sand will read from her poetry and about her work in Portland excavating the city’s history of Japanese internment, as well as other projects related to archival research, and documentary poetics. Also, Seattle-based poet/playwright Bob Flor will read from his poems and talk about the history of Alaskeros. There’s a $5 suggested donation. The Open Studio event happens at 3:30 p.m. at On The Boards’ Studio Theater, 100 W Roy St, Seattle, WA 98119.
The event is curated by Ambassador Shin Yu Pai. On the Boards Ambassadors are cultural and civic leaders who bring new voices and perspectives to programs; and to share our programs with new communities. Each of these individuals play an active role in shaping dialogue about the art presented at On The Boards and around trends, concepts, ideas, and opportunities arising in the creative community.
On the Boards Theater was founded by artists in 1978 to introduce audiences to artistic innovators who are defining the future of dance, theater, and music whether on stage in Seattle or on the global screen. Its members hope that OntheBoards.tv will help encourage people to go see live performances and participate in the ongoing dialogue about exciting new art, technology, and ideas.
